Death Valley Girls released debut, ready new EP, touring West Coast w/ Shonen Knife (dates, streams)

Death Valley Girls dropped their debut, Street Venom, earlier this year as a cassette-only release on Burger. It’s snarly, punky, attitude-heavy rock n’ roll and you can stream it below or buy the digital from Bandcamp. (The cassette is sold out but is getting reprinted.) There weren’t a lot of details about the band at the time — no press pics, a cagey bio — but turned out this is the new band from Patty Schemel (Hole, Upset). Her brother Larry was in the band too on guitar, with singer Bonnie Bloomgarden (who some may remember from NYC band The Witnesses; she’s on the new King Tuff album too) and Rachel Orosco on bass. Patty has since left the group, with Laura Kelsey (The Flytraps) taking over. Death Valley Girls have a new EP, Electric High, out August 19 and we’ve got the premiere of its title track in this post.

The band will be on the road this fall, opening West Coast dates for Shonen Knife (who play NYC in September). Nothing for the East Coast yet, but stay tuned. All dates, along with streams, below…
