Devil Master sign to Relapse for new compilation & debut LP, touring
Philly’s Devil Master have been devilishly mastering a mix of punk, black metal, and deathrock for a few years now, having released two EPs — most recently 2017’s Inhabit the Corpse. Now they have signed to Relapse, who will release a remixed, remastered compilation of their two EPs called Manifestations on November 2, followed by Devil Master’s debut full-length in early 2019. The album is being produced by the great Arthur Rizk (who’s worked with Power Trip, Code Orange, and many others). The band says:
Relapse Records’ store in Philly was crucial to all of us growing up scoring Bathory, Celtic Frost, Danzig etc merch, corrupting and burning an eternal impression in our then fragile minds that has gone unmatched. It’s an honor to be able to work with Relapse Records and Arthur Rizk, two titans of the underground, on our upcoming debut LP in spreading the spells that DEVIL IS YOUR MASTER!!!
Along with the announcement comes a new video for “Obscene Charade” from Inhabit the Corpse, which uses footage from the 1962 cult thriller Carnival of Souls and was edited by Integrity leader Dwid Hellion (who named Inhabit the Corpse one of his top 10 albums of 2017). Watch below.
Devil Master are also opening one of Integrity’s Baltimore shows in January, and they have other dates before that, including two in NYC. They play day one of Metal Punk Death Fest III at Brooklyn’s Saint Vitus (9/28) with Söft Dov, Bone Plow, Red Moon Rising, and more (tickets). They also open the Christian Death show at Brooklyn Bazaar on Halloween night (tickets).
Devil Master’s tour schedule also includes two hometown shows (one with Cloven Hoof, one with Midnight), Toronto’s Not Dead Yet Fest, and more. All dates are listed below.
