Future Islands share first single in three years, "For Sure" ft. Wye Oak's Jenn Wasner

Last summer, Future Islands went out on an East Coast tour to test out new some new music and now they’re ready for everyone to hear it. At least one song. “For Sure” is Future Islands’ first new single in three years and it features Jenn Wasner of fellow Baltimore band Wye Oak on backing vocals, and is a typically uplifting, danceable Future Islands anthem.

The video for the song was directed by Sam Mason and involves a couple of sentient cars driving through some sort of post-apocalyptic landscape. Visually it’s undeniably spectacular and looks very expensive. Watch the video below.

As for word on a full album from Future Islands, stay tuned.

In other news, Future Islands bassist WIlliam Cashion recently released Postcard Music, an ambient album influenced by meditation, travel and the ocean, were all conceived with this question on mind: “What is the sound of a song that has no beginning and no end?” You can stream that below.

Jenn Wasner just released a new EP as Flock of Dimes (her first for Sub Pop), and Wye Oak have a new EP out later in July.
