Even if you don’t know Kibby (or White Sea) by name, you might recognize her sound. She’s the voice behind Big Data’s recent single “The Business of Emotion,” she sang and played keyboard with M83 since 2008’s “Saturdays=Youth” and she co-wrote hits like “Midnight City” for the French electronic music group.
“I think there are some musicians who figure out very early on who they are,” she said. “I was not such a lucky writer and producer. Over the last 10 years, it’s been a discovery.” [Chicago Tribune]
Lollapalooza 2015 happened during the final weekend of July in Chicago’s Grant Park. We already posted three days worth of photos (Friday, Saturday and Sunday), and those posts included a couple shots of BrooklynVegan host and DJ Billy Jones interviewing Albert Hammond Jr on Sunday, but most of the Toyota Tent action was left out. BrooklynVegan co-presented/curated the tent, much like we’re doing again this weekend at Outside Lands, and so naturally we also have this final set of pictures from that action.
Our potion of the Toyota Tent’s schedule included live sets by by Morgan Kibby of M83’s band White Sea, Twin Peaks, rapper Pell, Gogol Bordello, Of Monsters and Men, Lion Babe (who are on the new Disclosure album), and more. Pictures from all of it, some portraits included, continue below…
