Christine Fellows Roses Vine

stream Christine Fellows' new LP; tour with John K Samson starts this week

Winnipeg folk-pop singer Christine Fellows will release her seventh album, Roses on the Vine, this Friday (11/16) via Vivat Virtute (pre-order), and we’re premiering a full stream ahead of its release. Christine co-produced the album with her partner, Weakerthans singer John K Samson, and other members of The Weakerthans and Bahamas also played on the record. It’s a bright, lovely sounding album, but it’s not as lighthearted as it may appear on the surface. Christine tells us:

Even though the first song declares otherwise, don’t believe it. Songs are lies and truth all rolled up together. Roses on the Vine is about the importance of collaboration, and taking care of each other. But it’s also about not being afraid to speak up and say what we really mean. No sugar-coating. Sugar is bad for the teeth. I made the album here in Winnipeg with and for some of my favourite people. It’s my seventh solo record, and my first vinyl release.

Christine begins her Canadian tour with John K Samson (who just released a cover of one of her 2007 songs for a split with Kevin Devine) this Thursday (11/15). Since we last spoke, Christine and John added a few more shows together. Updated dates are listed, alongside the album stream, below.
