Mark Knopfler

What's going on Tuesday?

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Mark Knopfler @ Beacon Theatre
Former Dire Straits frontman Mark Knopfler recently released Down the Road Wherever that’s very much in the spirit of his old band. He plays his first of two nights at Beacon tonight, and recent setlists show he’s been splitting things between solo and Straits songs pretty evenly.

KISS @ Barclays Center
KISS’ farewell tour is full of all the hits, pyro, props, and more ridiculousness that you’d hope for. It hits Brooklyn tonight.

Haim @ Pier 17
Haim recently put out the new single “Summer Girl,” and tonight they’re playing a free NYC show for Chase cardholders. Maybe they’ll preview more new material?

Beck, Cage the Elephant, Spoon, Sunflower Bean @ PNC Bank Arts Center
Beck and Spoon alone would make for a pretty great evening, but you’ve also got the high energy of Cage the Elephant and Sunflower Bean’s psych, too.

Death Valley Girls, Craig Brown Band, Groupie @ Saint Vitus Bar
Gothy L.A. garage rock four-piece Death Valley Girls just released a new single and will soon be on tour with The Distillers, but play this headline club show tonight.

Cut Worms (solo acoustic), Kyle Avallone @ The Sultan Room
These days Max Clarke has a full band for his Cut Worms project, but he’s just as engaging  in solo mode, where he’s often accompanied by an iPod (complete with canned crowd reactions).

Lizz Winstead, Jaye McBride, Hari Kondabolu, Myq Kaplan, Joyelle Johnson @ Union Hall
This night of “Feminist Buzzkill Comedy” features a pretty great lineup of “people that have never sexually harassed anyone.”

Dead Rider, A Bunch of Dead People, Public Speaking, Wasabi Fox @ Union Pool
Chicago’s take rock, blues, pop, punk funk and prog and grinds it in the gears of a powerful, weird engine.

Sidney Gish, Lunar Vacation, Michelle @ Elsewhere
Boston indie rocker and inventive guitarist Sidney Gish is touring in continued support of her breakthrough album No Dogs Allowed, hitting Elsewhere for the second night in a row tonight.

Adrian Belew @ Iridium
Adrian Belew sang on a handful of classic King Crimson albums, from Discipline to Thrak and beyond, and he has also lent his guitar skills to David Bowie, Talking Heads, Frank Zappa, Nine Inch Nails, and plenty of others. He’s in the midst of a run at the Iridium that goes through Wednesday.

The Nels Cline 4 @ (le) poisson rouge
Guitar great Nels Cline is always busy with one thing or another, and tonight he plays with his group The Nels Cline 4 who released Currents, Constellations on the Blue Note label last year.

Velvet Negroni (DJ Set) @ Ace Hotel
Velvet Negroni’s debut album is out next week on 4AD and tonight you can hear him spin other people’s music at this free DJ event.
